D'Jais OKs conditions to avoid heavy penalties
D'Jais will post an off-duty police officer outside its entrance on its busiest nights and will agree to put $20,000 in escrow to cover the future costs that the borough may incur for responding to major incidents at the bar. Those conditions are among several that the bar accepted on Wednesday night in an effort to avoid a lengthy suspension of its liquor license that could have put the landmark bar on Ocean and 18th avenues out of business. D'Jais also accepted two 15-day suspensions of its season liquor license. The first 15 days will be served in May, and the second will be served in late September and early October, according to the terms of the tentative agreement. D'Jais had been charged with eight violations of the town's alcoholic beverage control laws stemming from various incidents there that occurred over summer 2006, the most serious one in which a bouncer is accused of beating up a patron.
Peter Boutell, Lending a Hand: Are you ready to make an offer
Becoming a homeowner is a process that starts with desire and ends when you get the keys to your new home. Here are the fundamental core steps that need to be taken to get you through the process: explore your financing options, find a home to buy, make an offer, check out the home, secure the financing and close escrow. Once you have arrived at the point that you have finally found the home you want to buy, you have to be ready or you will be left out. It would be unwise to assume that since real estate is going through a correction that buyers do not have to worry about competition when it comes to convincing a seller to sell their home. Sellers that have well-priced, desirable properties are receiving multiple offers from multiple buyers. Sellers expect serious buyers to have arranged their financing by the time they make an offer.
